The Cumberland Infirmary has carried out its first robot-assisted operations, more than a decade after the technology became standard in England’s larger centres. For a trust that has long struggled to match the pace of urban providers, the rollout raises a sharper question: can a single system meaningfully close a regional care gap, or does it simply catch Cumbria up to where the rest of the country already was.
